The story behind Macra Music

Hello! I'm Eleanor, a drummer, cat and yoga enthusiast, and the owner and designer of Macra Music.

How it started

I began making macramé in late 2019, purely for pleasure. I'd just bought my first home and wanted to brighten it up, and I needed plant hangers to keep potentially poisonous plants out of reach of my cats.

When I posted my creations on Instagram, the response was overwhelmingly positive. That gave me the push to expand, and my pieces became more intricate and my designs more ambitious.

Why music?

Music has been a huge part of my life since I was 13, and textiles has been too. I've played drums in bands over the years, so I know how much an instrument means to the person who plays it, and how easily it ends up shut away in a case or propped in a corner. Macra Music was the natural result: a way to combine my love of music and textiles, and give instruments the display they deserve.

Made for instruments of all kinds

I make hangers and mounts for guitars, ukuleles, handpans, tongue drums, sitars, flutes and more. Musicians in over 30 countries now have a Macra Music piece on their wall, and I've been lucky enough to be featured in The Times and MusicRadar.

Something bespoke?

I regularly recieve requests for weird and wonderful instruments. If you don't see the right design in the shop, get in touch and I can make something just for you.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and enjoy shopping at Macra Music.
